Meditation and Contemplation Day
December 31 @ 10:00 am - 5:45 pm
The New Year’s Eve Meditation and Contemplation Day provides an opportunity to turn within and retreat, in the quiet of the Priory, at a time when we naturally wish to reflect on the year that is ending and to contemplate the direction of our life in the year that is starting.
This is a silent day, with meditation on the hour every hour (35 minutes, then 10 minutes of walking meditation, followed by 15 minutes’ break). There is the option to sit out any of the meditation periods and read or contemplate in the common room. At 5.00pm, there is evening service, followed by meditation until 5.40pm. You are welcome to come for as long as suits you – this offers the opportunity to schedule your own retreat for a day. It is helpful if you can arrive or leave during the 15 minute break before each hour. If you’d like to have lunch here (the lunch break is 1.00pm – 2.00pm), please bring a packed lunch.
You can stay on for the evening meditation and New Year Ceremony. Please let Rev. Leoma know if you’d like to do this, as there will be a simple meal at 6.00pm, which you’d be welcome to share.
