Forthcoming events

The Priory’s 12th anniversary will be celebrated on Sunday 2nd November. The morning will begin at 9.45am with a meditation period, which will be followed by a ceremony at 10.30am to express our gratitude for the life and teaching of our founder, Rev. Master Jiyu. Then there will be a Dharma talk and discussion over coffee and biscuits. Rev. Alicia, from Sitting Buddha Hermitage in Derbyshire (who is one of our charity’s trustees), will be visiting the Priory that weekend and will be with us for the ceremony. Please contact the Priory if you would like to come along. The photo below shows the altar set up for the festival last year.

We shall be holding a sesshin from 26th to 30th November (inclusive). This intensive meditation retreat will include several meditation periods each day, together with some ceremonies, Dharma talks (on The Scripture of Great Wisdom), Dharma discussions and working meditation. The full schedule can be found on our calendar. If you are interested in joining for any length of time, please contact the Priory. The meditation periods will be shared online.

We shall be celebrating the Festival of the Buddha’s Enlightenment on Sunday 7th December. The schedule for the event will be similar to that for our anniversary, with a meditation period at 9.45am and the ceremony at 10.30am, followed by a Dharma talk and discussion.

Thanks

Thank you very much to everyone who enabled me to take some time for retreat and renewal in September, including ten days spent in Blakeney on the North Norfolk coast. I am very grateful to the person who offered me the place to stay (and provided transport). My thanks also go to the people who kept many of the Priory’s events happening while I was away. It was great to know that the Sangha continued to gather, in person and online, in good numbers for meditation and Dharma discussions in my absence.

In addition, my gratitude goes to everyone who helps with cleaning the house and maintaining the gardens (and fences), as well as those people who offer help with various administrative tasks.

With best wishes and in gassho,

Reverend Leoma
